Alabama Decouples from the Federal Economic Stimulus Act of 2008
Act Number 2008-549, passed by the Alabama Legislature during the first 2008 Special Session, decoupled Alabama financial institutions excise tax laws from the bonus depreciation and the additional Section 179 expense provisions of the federal Economic Stimulus Act of 2008. Alabama financial institutions excise tax laws will continue to be tied to the federal depreciation rules without consideration of the changes implemented by the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008. For more information, please see the ADOR Policy - Decoupling of Alabama Income Tax Law from the Bonus Depreciation and Additional 179 Provisions of the Federal Economic Stimulus Act of 2008.
