SUMTER COUNTY EXCISE TAX
Effective January 1, 2002, the Sumter County Commission will begin administering the Sumter County excise tax. In accordance with the Sumter County Resolution, Lodging/Tobacco/Gasoline Tax, the Sumter County Commission desires to begin self-collection and administration of the county gasoline excise tax beginning January 1, 2002. Therefore, your January 2002 Sumter County excise tax should be remitted to Sumter County no later than February 20, 2002.

Any company that will be remitting the local tax directly to Sumter County and who no longer needs to file the county tax return (SUBT:MFCO) with the state should contact the Motor Fuels Section.
