The Legislature has passed and the Governor has signed Act No. 2000-314.

Section 6 of Act No. 2000-314 authorizes state departments and agencies to accept credit card payments. The term "credit card" is defined in Section 6(c). If the Department of Revenue elects to accept credit card payments; it must adopt policies, rules, and regulations governing the acceptance of credit card payments and enter into agreements with credit card issuers and other appropriate parties as provided in Section 6.

Act No. 2000-314 becomes effective July 1, 2000.
