The Legislature has passed and the Governor has signed Act No. 2000-650. This legislation creates the Etowah County Civic Center Authority for the purpose of the planning and development of a civic center for Etowah County.

Section 7(a) of Act No. 2000-650 exempts the civic center authority from any state, county, and municipal sales and use taxes.

Act No. 2000-650 becomes effective August 1, 2000.
