The Legislature has passed and the Governor has signed Act No. 98-654 which is effective May 6, 1998. Act No. 98-654 exempts Internet access charges from the utility gross receipts tax and the utility service use tax by amending the definition of the term "computer exchange service" found in both Sections 40-21-80(a)(11)(vi) and 40-21-100(a)(17)(vi).
