By resolution of the Sumter County Commission in accordance with Act 96-471, the Alabama Department of Revenue will no longer administer and collect tobacco taxes for Sumter County.

The Alabama Department of Revenue will collect Sumter County tobacco taxes for activity through December 31, 2001. The December 2001 Monthly County Tobacco Tax Return, due no later than January 21, 2001, will be the final return to report activity and remit tobacco taxes to the Alabama Department of Revenue for Sumter County.

Any questions concerning the collection and administration of Sumter County tobacco taxes after December 31, 2001 activities must be directed to the Sumter County Commission.
