A motorcycle dealer who has a current dealer license as required by Sections 40-12-51 or 40-12-62 and 40-12-391 may purchase up to a maximum of 35 motorcycle dealer license plates (combined dealer and motorcycle dealer if section 40-12-51 license) if a new dealer, or a maximum of 10 motorcycle dealer license plates (combined dealer and motorcycle dealer if section 40-12-51 license) if a used dealer. A section 40-12-62 licensee may only purchase motorcycle dealer license plates in the limits detailed above. Plates in this category are not assigned to a specific motorcycle; therefore, the plates may be moved among motorcycles in the dealer’s inventory.
