Webinar Purposes and Descriptions

Business Income Filing Requirements – To inform Alabama business taxpayers of the requirements and guidelines for filing business income taxes in Alabama. In this presentation, we will define business entity types; review income filing requirements for each business entity type; discuss estimated taxes; discuss the changes in the requirements for business privilege tax; and review penalties and interest due for not filing properly.

Business Personal Property – To inform Alabama taxpayers of the requirements and guidelines for reporting taxable personal property in the state.  In this webinar, we will define what taxable personal property is, describe how and when personal property is to be reported, and demonstrate how property tax is calculated.

Business Privilege Licenses – To inform Alabama taxpayers of the requirements and guidelines for obtaining a business privilege license for an Alabama business. In this webinar, we will define a business privilege license, determine who is required to have a business license, review items needed to obtain a business license, learn where to purchase a business license, and how much a business license costs.

Recordkeeping and Business Expenses – To inform Alabama taxpayers of the requirements and guidelines for recordkeeping and determining business expenses. In this webinar, we will discuss the purpose of keeping records, what records to keep and for how long, the statute of limitations, types of business expenses, how to document business expenses, and the burden of proof.

Resources for Starting a New Business – To provide resources for information on starting a business in Alabama. In this webinar, we will discuss common types of businesses and business entities, things to consider when starting a new business, and available online resources for new businesses.

Sales, Use, Lodgings, and Rental Taxes – To inform Alabama taxpayers of the requirements and guidelines for various taxes specific to Alabama businesses. In this webinar, we will define Sales, Sellers Use, Simplified Sellers Use, Consumers Use, Lodgings, and Rental taxes and discuss the process for the collection and remission of these taxes.

Withholding Tax – To inform Alabama business taxpayers of who is required to withhold Alabama Income Tax. In this webinar, we will show how to determine whether a person is an employee or an independent contractor; discuss Federal and State Withholding Exemption Taxes and how to report them using the proper forms; review other payroll-related taxes that employers should be aware of; and provide helpful links on ALDOR’s website.
