Other Information:

Legislative Act 2024-346 replaces the current international disability access symbol with a new dynamic disability access symbol. As a result of the act, the symbols on both placards and decals will change. The act is effective January 1, 2026.

Dynamic International Symbol of Disability Access decal/placard (Effective January 2026)

  • Effective January 2026, newly issued temporary or permanent disability placards/decals will reflect the new dynamic symbol.
  • Registrants who currently have disability placards/decals with the previous symbol will keep the old design until their renewal month in 2027 (the expiration date reflected on the current placards).
  • Therefore, from 2026 until the end of 2027, there will be vehicles on the road with both the old and new symbols.
