Only Alabama residents who are vehicle owners and are letter carriers may purchase license plates in this category. The words “letter carrier” means only those persons who are employed by the United States Postal Service and who are employed as letter carriers or who are retired from the United States Postal Service as letter carriers.

Individuals desiring to obtain the Letter Carrier distinctive license plate must present a card that identifies them as a letter carrier or retired letter carrier.

  • $15 – $890, depending on the type of vehicle being registered
  • Additional fees: $50 for pre-numbered or personalized plate

  • Sponsoring Organization: Alabama Association of Letter Carriers
  • The net proceeds of the $50 will be distributed to base. The net proceeds of the $5 shall be distributed to the Department of Revenue.

  • The license plate design changes every five years.
