Derrick Coleman joined the team at the Alabama Department of Revenue in 1993, beginning his career in the Vehicle Valuation Section of the Property Tax Division. Prior to being named Deputy Commissioner, Derrick served as Director of the Property Tax Division, building on his experience as a supervisor in the Real Property and Field Operations sections of the division.
As Deputy Commissioner, Derrick is responsible for overseeing the Property Tax, Sales and Use Tax, and Internal Audit/Security Divisions, and the Office of Taxpayer Advocacy.
Derrick serves as ALDOR representative on the GIS Executive Committee and is a member of the Auburn University Government and Economic Development Institute (GEDI) advisory board. When away from the office, he enjoys spending time with family and friends.
