Prerequisites for submitting a Tourism Schedule through My Alabama Taxes:
- The Tourism Schedule will be available when you file your monthly sales tax return for the tax account associated with the certified Tourism Project.
- All applicable sales tax accounts must be provided to the Tourism Destination Project owner and subsequently approved by ALDOR.
- A letter from ALDOR directing you to report transactional taxes generated within a certified Tourism Project by submitting a Tourism Schedule.
Procedures for submitting a Tourism Schedule through My Alabama Taxes:
- Log in to My Alabama Taxes.
- Once logged in, navigate to State, Local, Lodgings or Rental Tax under the Accounts tab.
- Select File or View Returns or Periods, then click File Now.
- Enter your total gross sales or receipts and click Next.
- In the Tourism Schedule enter the gross sales or receipts that were generated within the tourism project and click Next.
- Follow the return instructions for submitting the return and making a payment.
- For Local Tax Return, read the instructions, then click Next.
- Import a template containing return information per the instructions, or manually enter your information into the return table. Select the appropriate locality, tax type, and rate type where the tourism project is located, enter the gross amount and deductions, and click Next. Note: For NSA (non-state-administered) localities, you will need to enter the city/county tax account number.
- In the Tourism Schedule, select the appropriate locality, tax type, and rate type, enter the gross amount and deductions that were generated within the tourism project, and click Next. Note: For NSA localities, enter the city/county tax account number.
- Proceed by following the return instructions for submitting the return and making a payment.
If your business is associated with multiple tourism projects, please review the return information carefully to ensure that you enter the correct sales or receipts for the appropriate project before submitting your return.
Amended sales, rental, or lodging tax returns can be submitted online through My Alabama Taxes. However, amended local tax returns cannot be submitted online. For state-administered localities, you must submit your request to the Local Tax Unit at LocalTaxUnit@revenue.alabama.gov. For non-state-administered localities, you must contact the locality or it’s third-party tax administrator directly.
