SUBJECT: New and Retained Designs License Plates
DATE: December 1, 2025

The following redesigned license plate categories will be available for issuance beginning January 1, 2026:

  • Prince Hall Grand Lodge
  • Alabama State University
  • Athens State University
  • Jacksonville State University
  • Oakwood University
  • University of Alabama at Birmingham
  • University of Alabama in Huntsville
  • Lurleen B Wallace Community College
  • National Wild Turkey Federation

The organizations for the following license plate categories elected to retain their current designs. However, they will be replaced with plates without decal pockets. The plates will be available for issuance beginning January 1, 2026:

  • Breast Cancer Research
  • Alabama Yoga and Love
  • Bishop State Community College
  • Alabama Gold Star Family

A supply of license plates based on the number of current registrations in each county has been ordered and should be arriving soon. Beginning January 1, 2026, personalized license plates (if applicable) and additional plate orders may be ordered on demand or in bulk through the ALVIN system. Additionally, discontinue issuing license plates with the old design and retain them for audit purposes.
