SUBJECT: Reissuance Commercial License Plate Designs Retained
DATE: August 3, 2026

The Alabama Department of Revenue elected to retain the current designs for the reissuance of the following commercial 5-year license plates:

• Bus
• Cotton Module
• Farm Truck
• Forest Product
• Non-Interstate Use
• Motor Home
• Taxi
• Trailer
• Truck
• Yard Truck
• Tow Truck

Beginning October 1, 2026, existing commercial registrants will receive a new 5-year metal license plate upon renewal, provided the current plate has been in use for 5 years. For renewal periods when the metal license plate is not issued, a validation decal will be issued instead. A shipment of pre-numbered license plates, based on each county’s current registration count for each license plate type, is expected to arrive soon. You may also place additional license plate orders through ALVIN.
