Posted: December 11, 2020

Updates Will Implement Pandemic Tax Relief Measures

MONTGOMERY, Dec. 11, 2020 – In accordance with Governor Kay Ivey’s 21st Supplemental State of Emergency Proclamation, the Alabama Department of Revenue is updating instructions and guidance for its 2020 returns for income tax and Financial Institution Excise Tax to implement the tax relief measures included in the proclamation related to federal CARES Act stimulus payments and PPP loan forgiveness.

The Department will issue a follow-up notice when this guidance and any related return instructions have been finalized and are accessible on the Department’s website. Ahead of this, taxpayers, professional preparers, and tax advisors should direct any questions they may have to the Department’s Tax Policy and Governmental Affairs Division at taxpolicy@revenue.alabama.gov. When emailing questions, please include the term “CARES Act Return Instructions” in the reference line.
