ORDER OF THE COMMISSIONER OF REVENUE
I, Vernon Barnett, Commissioner of the Alabama Department of Revenue, pursuant to the power granted to me under §40-2-11, Code of Alabama 1975, hereby declare that because there is a state of emergency resulting from Hurricane Michael, it is necessary to assist and expedite all efforts of relief.  In order to accommodate this need and provide assistance to the citizens affected by this storm, I hereby order the temporary suspension of the requirements associated with the International Registration Plan (IRP) and International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) for any motor vehicle engaged in interstate disaster relief efforts which will be traveling through the State of Alabama as part of the disaster relief.
Nothing in this Executive Order shall be construed to allow any vehicle to operate in the State of Alabama without valid registration and insurance from its base state, nor shall anything in this Executive Order be construed to allow any vehicle to exceed weight limits posted for bridges and like structures, nor shall anything in this Executive Order be construed to relieve any vehicle or the carrier, owner, or driver of any vehicle from compliance with any restrictions other than those specified in this Executive Order, or from any statute, rule, order or other legal requirement not specifically waived herein.
Because of the on-going state of emergency resulting from Hurricane Michael, this Executive Order shall be effective until the end of thirty (30) days after the signing of the Executive Order.
