TO: License Plate Issuing Officials
SUBJECT: Redesigned, New, and Discontinued License Plates

The following redesigned license plates will be available for issuance beginning February 1, 2022:

• Alabama Poultry Foundation
• Sickle Cell Awareness
• Troy University

The following new license plate will be available for issuance beginning February 1, 2022:

• Alabama Audubon

The following license plates were discontinued as of December 31, 2021, and should NOT be available for issuance or renewal as of January 1, 2022:

• Rotary International
• Civitan International
• Square/Round Dance

A supply of license plates based on the number of current registrations in each county has been ordered and should be arriving soon. For the new Alabama Audubon plate, a shipment of plates was ordered for each county based on the pre commitment report numbers for each county. Personalized license plates may be ordered on demand through the Plate Reservation and Ordering System (PROS). Beginning February 1, 2022, please discontinue the issuance of license plates with the old design and retain for audit purposes.

The tag numbering schemes for the license plates may be found on the Motor Vehicle Division website at https://revenue.alabama.gov/motor-vehicle/ under “Reference & Statistics” then “Registration File Information.”
