The following new license plates will be available for issuance beginning May 1, 2022:

For the Alabama Treasure Forest plate, a supply (based on the number of current registrations in each county) of prenumbered license plates has been ordered and should be arriving soon. For the new The World Games 2022 plate, a shipment of prenumbered license plates was ordered based on the pre commitment report numbers for each county. For the Gadsden State Community College and the Calhoun Community College plates, a small quantity of prenumbered plates has been ordered for a select number of surrounding counties. Personalized license plates may be ordered on demand through the Plate Reservation and Ordering System (PROS). Additional license plate orders may be placed using the Alabama Inventory Management System (AIMS). Beginning May 1, 2022, please discontinue the issuance of license plates with the old design and retain for audit purposes.

The tag numbering schemes for the license plates may be found on the Motor Vehicle Division website at https://revenue.alabama.gov/motor-vehicle/ under “Reference & Statistics” then “Registration File Information.”

Please contact the Motor Vehicle Division at (334) 242-9000 if you have any questions.
