All Cargo Tank Permit Holders – Electronic Filing of the Storage Tank Trust Fund Joint Petition for Refund
The Department of Revenue is pleased to begin offering electronic filing of the Storage Tank Trust Fund (STTF) Joint Petition for Refund Form effective immediately. For your convenience, enclosed is a copy of the new refund form. If you wish to download the fillable STTF Joint Petition for Refund form, you may visit the Department’s website at https://www.revenue.alabama.gov/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/BL-STTRPJ.pdf.
Taxpayers who elect to file their joint petitions for refund electronically must first receive approval from the Department of Revenue by submitting test data using the format in the attached sample Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. Upon approval of your sample spreadsheet, you will receive written notification from our office and then may begin filing all future STTF joint petitions for refund electronically. Taxpayers approved for electronic submission, must complete the petition for refund form, provide all required information and utilize the proper spreadsheet format. In addition, the seller must provide the distributor with an affidavit attesting to the gallons and the amount claimed on the refund form. Failure to provide all required information will result in the petition being denied.
