NOTICE
Taxes, Fees, and Other Obligations of $750 or More Must Be Paid Electronically
This is a reminder that taxpayers making single tax payments totaling $750 or more to the Alabama Department of Revenue (ADOR) are required to pay their tax bills electronically, rather than mailing checks.
In accordance with Sections 41-1-20(b)(2) and 41-1-21, Code of Alabama 1975, taxes, fees, and other obligations that are collected or administered by ADOR, in the amount of $750 or more shall be paid electronically. If payment is timely made in other than immediately available (electronic) funds, penalty, interest and loss of applicable discount shall be added to the amount due from the due date of the tax, fee or obligation payment to the date that the funds become available to the state. Because these payments are required to be made electronically, the postmark date will not apply for timeliness.
Effective July 1, 2018, ADOR will begin to enforce the penalties, interest, and loss of applicable discount for check payments that meet the above criteria.
Most tax payments are remitted through My Alabama Taxes (MAT) where the tax returns are filed (https://myalabamataxes.alabama.gov). NOTE: If you have debit block on your bank account, please provide the appropriate Originating Company ID #(s) to your bank for debit payments initiated by ADOR and its payment processor.
Originating Company IDs:
- For ADOR state tax payments and state-administered local payments:
ADORCCD000MAT6045055 * - For Non-State Administered (NSA) local payments through MAT: 2621862182
- For ADOR Construction Employer Fees: 1522077581
Payments rejected due to debit block issues may result in “Failure to Timely Pay” penalties and interest.
A list of telephone numbers for each division of the Department can be found on the Contact Us page (https://revenue.alabama.gov/contact/). Scroll down the page, and you will see the “Department of Revenue” tab; click on the “My Alabama Taxes” tab to obtain the telephone numbers to call if you need assistance with setting up your banking information in MAT. If your tax type cannot be paid through MAT, please call the appropriate section’s telephone number found on the “Department of Revenue” tab.
*Effective 1/31/2024, ALDOR Originating Company ID changed.
