WHO is eligible?

The Alabama Department of Revenue seeks qualified candidates for employment who have a degree in accounting or another business-related field such as business administration, public administration, finance, marketing, or management. See links below for job announcement postings and more information regarding minimum requirements. While work at ALDOR can be technical in nature, we value employees who have excellent professional and soft skills such as teamwork, communication, and time management.  Work at ALDOR requires the ability to read, understand, interpret, and explain revenue laws, rules, and policies.  All employees are expected to effectively assist taxpayers in a professional and courteous manner.

WHAT do ALDOR employees do?

Job responsibilities at ALDOR may include but are not limited to administering and distributing taxes, auditing returns for compliance, processing assessments, processing and reviewing returns, assisting taxpayers, working with county tax officials, or collecting taxes.

  5. Submit an official transcript for each accredited postsecondary academic institution attended to transcripts@personnel.alabama.gov.
  6. A job announcement may specify that a written exam is required.  If a job is on continuous recruitment and requires a written exam, the written exam will be administered several times a year.  If a job is on current recruitment and requires a written exam, the exam will be administered shortly after the closing date.
  7. The State Personnel Department refers the top ten most qualified (highest scoring) candidates, including the names of those with tied scores, to ALDOR for further review.
