NOTICE Local Motor Fuel Excise Tax Revenue and Expenditure Report

In accordance with Act 2019-001 of the 2019 First Special Session, effective March 12, 2019, on or before January 31 of each year, any county or city required to report local motor fuel excise tax rate information to the Department of Revenue pursuant to Act 1998-192 must also provide a similar report to the department relating to the total amount of local motor fuel excise tax revenues collected for the immediately preceding fiscal year and the total amount of the revenue expended on road and bridge maintenance and improvement during that same fiscal year.

In order to help facilitate the reporting of this information, the department is providing the attached template (see link below). The information should be reported using the template, as follows:

Locality Name Use the dropdown box to enter your locality name.

Fiscal Year -Enter the fiscal year being reported. For example, October 1, 2018 – September 30, 2019, July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2019, etc.

Tax Revenue – Enter the total amount of local motor fuel (gasoline, diesel fuel, CNG, etc.) excise tax revenues collected by the city or county for the fiscal year being reported.

Road and Bridge Maintenance and Improvement – Enter the total amount of the revenues expended on road and bridge maintenance and improvement for the fiscal year being reported.

In an effort to reduce administrative burden, the department encourages the submission of these reports via email to the following email address:  mft@revenue.alabama.gov.  Reports may also be submitted by mail or fax, if necessary, to the below address or fax number.
